The Scouts kick started the year with a hike in the Pentland hills. They have also been cycling, ice skating, climbing and swimming on top of the usual sailing and kayaking at Longcraig. The scouts made their own pocket stoves and tested them out whilst on a night hike around Dalmeny.

Stuart’s famous pancakes were once again on the menu as the Scouts competed Masterchef style to perfect their recipes. The Scouts have also cooked on open fires proving that food making is always a popular programme for Scouts.

Camping at Bonaly proved to be a great success. Special thanks to Andrew and Guy who helped out at the camp. The Scouts have built rope bridges and shelters showing they have the skills to survive in the great outdoors.

On a lighter note the Scouts took a trip to the Gang Show to see Scouts from across Edinburgh perform in this all singing and dancing show. At the district quiz, the Scouts took home the prize for first place. Bravo to the quiz team!

The highlight of the year for many was the project the Scouts took part in with the Scottish Story Telling Centre which culminated in Scouts being immortalised in a mural in Leith.

Special mention must be made of James Cameron who has had to step down as Scout leader due to work commitments. James has played a vital role in making the Scout Group what it is today and it is only right that his immense contribution to the Group is noted.

Many thanks to Ross who has joined the leadership team recently and has already made a huge difference. Malcolm continues to be a valuable asset to the troop and we couldn’t run our programme without him!

Thanks are also due to Andrew and the committee for the support they have provided over the past year.

Parents play a key role in making the troop function and their support is always appreciated.

Lastly special thanks to…the Scouts! Everything we do happens because they show up and get stuck in. They have been a credit to the group at every event they have attended. Well done!
