Volunteer

Scouting is the UK’s biggest youth organisation. We change lives by offering 6 to 25-year-olds fun and challenging activities, unique experiences, everyday adventure and the chance to help others so that we make a positive impact in our communities. 7th Edinburgh North East Sea Scouts are based in Trinity (we can cover travel expenses) and we help over 70 young people experience life changing adventure every week. Help us to deliver a wide variety of fun and adventure to our young people. Do this as part of the leadership team. A background in scouting or sailing will help you understand our organisation but it isn’t necessary – your energy, commitment and enthusiasm are. Training and support is provided throughout. Our sections meet on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.

Training

A full range of training is available. Three hours training is mandatory but we offer modules of up to 20 hours. Some modules can be done online and all training is recorded in your volunteer record. We also provide mentoring to make sure you get the most out of your volunteering.

Benefit to you

You will develop the following skills/abilities: organisation, leadership, confidence, presentation, budgeting, communication and teamwork. If you have a skill you would like to develop, you can talk to your mentor about it and we will add it to your training plan.

Will you make a difference?

Yes! Scouting allows young people to experience life changing adventure and develop skills for life. We couldn’t do this without volunteers like you!
